The Little Knight – A Review by Imogen, 3

Nettie Stather kindly sent me a copy of her book, The Little Knight, which was very handy as my 3 year old granddaughter,  Imogen,  is an avid listener of all stories.

The Little Knight is easy to read, with it’s lilting poetic tale and the pages contain simple,  colourful illustrations which appeal to toddlers.

I settled down with Imogen to read the book, and armed myself  with  pen and reporters pad to carry out an indepth  interview.
She is a delight to read to and always asks for any story to be read twice and then we have to discuss it and the various possibilities and outcomes, which is highly entertaining.

The Little Knight is the age old story of a gallant Knight rescuing an imprisoned damsel, which is great timing as we’ve just introduced Imogen to the cinema with Tangled, which she loved, especially Punzel!.

Me – ‘What did you enjoy about the story’
Imogen – ‘The dragon blowing smoke over the castle – it has scary big teeth’
Me – ‘ Did you like the Princess? What do you think her name is?’
Imogen – ‘Tallulah, Princess Tallulah. And the Knight hasn’t got a name, we have to give him a name’
Me – ‘Ok, what should we call the Knight’
Imogen, after some thought, ‘Sponge. Sponge the Knight’.
Me – ‘Should we give the lizard a name?’
Imogen – ‘No, I’ve run out of names now. Is Milly Molly on?’

This really is a delightful little book and I know Imogen will want to read it, and discuss the various characters and plot – What will they do with all those keys? – time and time again.

The book is available to buy from Amazon for £4.99 – click here
